Governmental Affairs Committee Meetings

Meetings during the Legislative Interim
In our effort to educate ICHS members and interested individuals around the state, ICHS’ Governmental Affairs Committee (GAC) conducts monthly educational meetings during the “interim” months between legislative sessions.  These interim GAC meetings are open to ALL ICHS members – and ICHS members are strongly encouraged to bring guests with them.  These meetings are a great membership tool!  GAC will invite guest speakers to come and share their insight and expertise on issues that concern us, including the budget, revenue and taxation, Medicaid and health care, education, and issues surrounding the elderly, disabled, and young.  As well, ICHS members will provide updates and share information regarding the progress of any summer study committees that are being followed.  In addition to the educational benefits of attending these meetings, they also provide ICHS members a great opportunity to network with advocates and professionals from a wide variety of disciplines.  All meetings are scheduled for the first Tuesday of every month (except the election months of May and November, when the meeting will be held on the 2nd Tuesday).  See the Calendar for location and topic details.

Meetings during the Legislative Session – “Tuesday Luncheons”
When the Indiana General Assembly is in session, the ICHS Governmental Affairs Committee meets weekly in what has become known as our “Tuesday Luncheons”.  This hour over lunch has developed into one of the Coalition’s most appreciated member benefits, as it provides members with a critical and regular opportunity to network with other ICHS members, share and gather information, discuss the implications and movement of various pieces of legislation that affects human services – and strategies that could be employed in supporting or opposing it, and problem solve with many social service advocates and organizations.  Only “Full Members” may attend these meetings; “Associate Members” may not.
